Planting instructions
Plant can grow to 4 feet tall or taller when planted in a large, wide container (24 – 48 inches in diameter, or wider).
Place in pond or in very large containers on your patio, in full sun (8 – 12 hours of strong sunlight daily), using loam soil with 4 – 8 inches of water above the lotus tuber. Fill your container 3/4 full with loam soil. Dig a trench in the soil and gently place your lotus tuber in the trench. Cover all but the growth tips with an inch or two of soil, leaving the growth tips exposed. Gently add a few inches of water above the tuber and place your container in full sun, outdoors. In a week or two you should have coin leaves on the surface of the water–a week or two after that you should have aerial leaves growing out of the water. Once you have aerial leaves, you may fertilize your lotus.
DO NOT fertilize until you have two standing leaves growing out of the water. Fertilize monthly throughout the growing/blooming season with WATERLILY WORLD FERTILIZER TABS + HUMATES for vigorous growth and best bloom! Your lotus should grow and bloom the very first year!
