Blue Pickerel Rush (Pontederia Cordata) A lovely, green, pond plant with large, lush, green leaves and small blue-purple flower spikes. Flower spikes bloom above the dark, glossy, green foliage nonstop all summer long into October. A lovely addition to your pond when grown in containers or at the edges of natural ponds and lakes. Grows 2 – 3 feet tall. This plant can handle moist soil to water as deep as 8 inches for mature plants. Pickerel Rush brings butterflies and hummingbirds to your water garden.

Planting Instructions
Plant Pontederia Cordata in moist, loam soil with up to 4 – 10 inches of water over the soil. Pickerel Rush is a great pond plant that does best in full sun to full shade. Plant in a 12 inches wide container about 12 inches deep, or larger, using heavy loam soil and place in your pond with up to 10 inches of water above the roots. Beautiful when naturalized on the banks of ponds and lakes. When planting in containers, keep roots from freezing. Hardy in zones 3 – 10
