Dancing Phoenix Lotus
Plant Description
Dancing Phoenix Lotus has dark-pink petal tips that embellish this creamy-white, single-petal lotus. Dancing Phoenix Lotus blooms beautifully throughout the summer! These exquisite blooms are held regally above the emerald-green foliage. Small in size, big on beauty! Dancing Phoenix Lotus adds an elegant touch to your outdoor living space. Dancing Phoenix Lotus grows 1 – 2 feet tall when planted in very wide (16 – 20 inch in diameter) containers.
Planting Instructions
Plant this lovely specimen in a 16 – 20 inch wide or wider, shallow container using heavy loam soil. Dig a shallow trench across the surface of the soil and gently place the lotus tuber in the trench. Cover the tuber in a couple of inches of soil but be sure to leave the growth tips exposed. Add 3 – 4 inches of water over the soil and place in a sunny location outdoors (8+ hours of sunlight daily). In a week or two you will have coin leaves on the surface of the water, a week or two after that you will have aerial leaves growing out of the water. It is safe to fertilize once you have aerial leaves. Use only a half does of fertilizer the first time you fertilizer, (use 1 1/2 fertilizer tabs for your first dose of fertilizer) once you have aerial leaves. The rest of the summer–you may fertilize with three fertilizer tabs per month until August.
Fertilizing Instructions
Once you have aerial leaves, fertilize your lotus tuber with three fertilizer tabs per month during the months from June through August. These are your growing/blooming months. Simply press three fertilizer tabs into the soil around the roots of your lotus tuber, being careful not to damage the roots. We recommend Waterlily World Fertilizer Tabs + Humates for best bloom and optimum growth! Your lotus tuber should grow and bloom the very first year!
